Natural Products and Warm Temperatures
Natural handmade products are sensitive to temperature changes. During warmer weather products may deflate, soften or even melt in transit as they sit in mail trucks and mailboxes. Unfortunately, deflation and/or melting is a natural reaction to heat. It is important you bring your products inside as soon as possible after they have been delivered.
Some products will not be available again until cool weather months during the year.
Please understand, there is no way that we can ship products and completely control the higher heat temperatures in spring/summer delivery warehouses, trucks and mailboxes.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT MELTING
Whipped Body Butters: Place it in the refrigerator. If any melting has occurred, it will not affect the quality of the whipped butter as a great moisturizer, but the whipped consistency will change. Whipping adds tiny air bubbles (just like whipping cream) that increase the size, lightens the density and changes the texture, making the product light and fluffy. If a whipped product melts, the air bubbles are collapsed, so the volume is decreased. So although the jar was filled to the top, if the butter(s) melt, there will be less volume in the container. The container may actually look half full.
Whipped Soap: Place in the refrigerator until firm. Again, because it is a whipped product, the container will have less volume if the whipped product deflates.
WHAT WE ARE DOING TO HELP THE PROBLEM
During warmer/hot weather, we do our best to protect our products from melting in transit and some items will not be available.
- We check every product before it is packed for shipping
- Wrap our more delicate products in bubble wrap or another padding to add another layer of insulation
- Ice packs when necessary will be added into your package for shipment for some of our more delicate products
